Shaina is a steward of life and a guardian of riverways born near the Chi-Sippi (Rouge River) in T'karonto (Scarborough), territories whose original, current & future stewards include the Anishinaabe, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat First Nations.
She is nomadic between her ancestral lands (known as the Philippines), Kerala, BC, and Ontario. Her practise is inspired by her reverence for these prophetic lands and the memory & medicine they carry from countless nations.
Her father was born in Mindoro, by way of Banton, Romblon (lola’s birthplace) and Ilocos Sur (lolo’s birthplace). Her mother’s roots are in Quezon and Batangas province. She hails from a lineage of circletenders, memory-keepers, and practitioners of anscience.
“I honour the migration & nomadism in my lineage led by the compass of riverways, an original instruction embedded into ‘taga-ilog’ or ‘from the river’ the region ” -Sha -
